There are times when blogging is exciting and you constantly have new ideas, and other times when it can feel stagnant and you lose focus on where you are heading. You may not be getting the traffic you want or being passed for collaborations. But this doesn’t mean you should give up and it’s important that you know how to counteract these feelings and redefine why you are blogging in the first place.
DON'T COMPARE YOURSELF TO OTHERS
It’s really important that you don’t compare your own success to that of other bloggers. Remember that your audience follows you for a reason (because they like what you do!) and offering something unique and innovative is more important than replicating what another blogger is doing. That’s not to say you can’t learn from the success of other bloggers, and adapting what they do well to your own blog can give it a fresh edge.
SET MEASURABLE & REALISTIC EXPECTATIONS
It’s not all about numbers either, and remember that not everyone will reach one million followers or page views…and that is okay! While it’s great to have quantifiable goals that include these metrics, you may need to redefine what success means as a blogger and your own expectations.
CELEBRATE YOUR PAST SUCCESSES
Don’t forget to recognize your successes so far and celebrate the achievements you have made as a blogger. It’s really easy to bring yourself down, but harder to boost yourself with positive encouragement, which is what is really needed if you want to take your blog to the next level.
ENJOY A BREAK
If you need to take a break from blogging and just enjoy life, then this is not a bad thing! It will give you time to redefine what is important to you and you will come back to blogging with a clearer mind and more focused on your goals.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH A POSITIVE NETWORK
You can also take advantage of the support network you have in blogger friends, as no one will understand the challenges, highs and lows as much as them. It’s great to have people there to vent, rant and bounce ideas off!
KEEP LEARNING & INNOVATING
There are also tons of great online research tools available that will help to improve your blogging skills. From ebooks to video tutorials and webinar series, there is no excuse why you can’t self-educate and be constantly improving.
